In Till Nowak's recent mockumentary, "The Centrifuge Brain Project," the German filmmaker delves into the sci-fi studies of Dr. Nick Laslowicz, a mad scientist character with a penchant for extravagant amusement park rides. The short project follows the misguided efforts of the Institute for Centrifugal Research, featuring a series of absurdly designed roller coasters that operate under the assumption that "gravity is a mistake."
"These machines provide total freedom, cutting all connection from the world you live in," Laslowicz says in the video. "Communication, responsibility, weight -- everything is on hold while you're being centrifuged."
We can't say we'd try any of these absurd rides, but the visual renderings are mind-blowing enough. If you're hooked into the world of the ICR (the film has won numerous awards, so you aren't alone), you can check out the fake institute's Facebook and website and let the H.G. Wells dream live on.
